Favorite Looks from Marc Jacobs Fall 2010

My stylist-idol, Rachel Zoe, with Marc.

Love all the fur in this collection.

The sexy long leather gloves/fur bolero combo was my favorite part of the show.

The transparency makes this jacket too cool.

Sweet. Looks like something my best friend Jadie would wear.

Sniff it Good

One beauty component a lot of people take for granted is fragrance, which is a shame. Perfumes should be personal, carefully selected to match the wearer. Besides, shopping for fragrance is fun! Price ranges, ingredients and forms vary widely, from spices to flowers to fruits, and splashes, mists, parfums, oils, and toilettes.

Another shame is even though you may have chosen the right scent for you, not everyone knows how to wear it properly. To get the full-bodied effect of the fragrance, you have to apply it to certain places on the body that will release the scent uniformly. French women know how: they spritz inside both their ankles, behind both knees, inner thighs, cleavage, pulse points, and the nape of the neck. Twelve squirts may seem like a lot, but the scent payoff lasts all day, and inevitably someone will tell you you smell good.

Here are some of my personal favorite scents. Try them for yourself, or something new!

I went through 3 bottles of this because I was complimented on it constantly!
It's a nice balance of citrus and floral.

A musky floral blend of rose, jasmine, sandalwood and powder.

Fruity. A lot of guys like this scent.

A very light fragrance with a hint of coconut, perfect for spring.

The intense form of the original. A heavy floral.

Happy sniffing!

"There's a lack of color here"

Yes, it's that time again...New York Fashion Week!
One more reason why fall is my favorite season. I also love that fashion week falls so close to my birthday! (One week!) Sorry it's a little late in the week for the update, but...

here's what's going on, and a few of my favorite looks:

The predominance of WHITE on the runways is astounding. It seems like for next spring neutral is the new...everything. Where there are a few pops of color, it's in the coral/orange/red/yellow family, (and black, of course) but the dominate colors are definitely more subdued. Just check out Lacoste's preppy khaki separates, Max Azria's watercolored frocks, or Behnaz Sarafpour's muted pieces.

Betsey Johnson, though her show had its fair share of white, did feature some refreshingly wacky pieces, citing Johnny Depp's Pirates of the Caribbean character as inspiration. I'll take a pair of these bloomers, please:

Oddly enough, in the Marc by Marc Jacobs collection, I found myself more drawn to the men's looks. Their shoes were just as great as the outfits they were wearing. My favorite looks:

Loose and flowing was also a visible trend, seen on the Halston and Monique Lhuillier runways:

Rodarte has been one of my favorites so far. The blues and purples the Mulleavy sisters used were beautiful, and I love the interwoven chains in some of the dresses. Those cut-out leggings are a must have for next spring.

I could go on all day, but I'll wrap it up with one of my favorite designers ever, Anna Sui, who showed under the tents at Bryant Park today. Clearly her collection was inspired by the American west. Native American references could be spotted in mocassin boots, and fringed shawls and loose hairnets mirrored traditional Mexican women's dress. Here's the stunning Jessica Stam in a look in the designer's favorite color (black).
